The systemic beauty of the skillsets lays in them being the most direct leverage point for influencing your mindset and identity, which in turn, determine your futures.Beyond Futures mindset strengthens your personal foresight skills
With personal futures, the leap of change is often unexpectedly fast, when it finally comes. Leaving us wondering what the heck just happened and what next? Not that there wouldn´t have been signs, but they are often clear only in retrospect.
The large trajectories of futures or of our own personal systems change the conditions our personal lives slowly. When they hit the limits of the systems, reach their tipping points, the shift might feel sudden. Us humans, we often have the tendency to overlook signals of change as they are weak and fight them as they become stronger instead of choosing to work with them.
Beyond Futures mindset enables you to apply and practise personal foresight in your life. It also allows your mindful presence in today.
When we experience a change that is strongly affecting our own life, it sometimes drives us to the limits of or understanding and/or capabilities. Especially if we arrive there unprepared. We may have some safety network, but even then, the change required is often wide-ranging.
The change, a rebuild, or reinvention demands us going through the systems of our own life with a thick comb. I mean, we do not wish to build the same system again, not with the same flaws, facing the potential of same type of collapse. Sometimes it will not be even possible, the times, the external conditions have changed, which forces us to adapt.
At this point, we often wish that we would have had the capacity of some foresight, courage to see the change sooner and prepare, have alternatives. At it´s best, this might also serve as a motivation to not just rebuild the life for what we used to know, but to dive deeper in the development of our own mindset and skillset - to be better equipped for when the next radical change takes place.
I realize the way I´m putting this does not sound most appealing. However, this reneval of your mindset does have the potential to be the most amazing time of your life with the discovery of yourself and what the opportunities the external world has to offer.
The systems of your Futures
As Personal Futurist - I look and make sense at almost everything through systems and their subsystems. The entire universe is formed by interlinked systems, which provide an excellent framework for understanding, even if we can not fully see all their loops.
When it comes to making sense of personal systems, I divide them in three interconnected systems:
- Fuel: Your internal physical systems, which determine your energy and life force.
- Futures: The external systems you communicate and collaborate with, linking your life to all the systems of the universe.
- Focus: Your internal, mental (possibly also spiritual etc) systems, determining your sense of self, values, choices, agency, the ways you steer your life.
Beyond Futures mindset is, again, a simplified framework I use in developing the skills and mindsets of my individual customers to become able to orientate their thinking and actions towards the numerous opportunities of their futures.

Balanced Resilience is what you could describe as:
“I listen to my body, mind, and emotions as one system, and I recover, adapt, and respond without overriding myself.”
Aliveness as conscious practice
acknowledges your gratitude, appreciation, enjoyment, and fun, recognising their energetic value in the present. “I commit to seeing beyond isolated events by understanding systems, recognising patterns over time, and situating my personal choices within wider forces of change.”
Transformative Thinking
is your practise of cultivating futures thinking skills. It´s your ability to create and use images of the future, scenarios and envisioning to challenge the past and present beliefs, expand the range of possible actions, and reframe the futures. It shifts your mindset from viewing the future as something that happens to you to something you help shape.
Personal Accountability & Responsibility is what you could describe as:
“I actively make and own my choices, my responses, and their consequences, and I do not hand that power to circumstances or other people.”

Beyond Futures Mindset as a skillset, why?
This is how I look at it, your identity, personality and mindset are forces that are mostly unconsciously affecting your life and building your futures. In personal development conversations, these concepts often get mixed into one conceptual smoothie. Yet they operate at different depths of your human system. Making the distinction in how they operate in your internal world, Focus, is influential because it will enable you to influence them.
Your identity is who you believe you are and who you are becoming, it is your inner position in the world, made of meanings, values, roles, self-definitions and life narratives. Identity is relatively stable, but evolves through lived experience
Your personality refers to relatively enduring patterns in how you feel, think and respond to life, take agency. It is influenced by biology, development and environment. You do not need to “change your personality” to build meaningful futures, but you might benefit from finding new ways of working with it.
Your mindset is a learned way of relating to challenges, uncertainty and growth. It is more dynamic than your identity and more trainable than your personality. Mindset determines whether you see obstacles as signals to stop or invitations to adapt. It is deeply influenced by identity but can be also be deliberately developed.
Your skillset are practical capabilities you can learn and strengthen. It is the most concrete layer including behaviours, abilities and competencies. The systemic beauty of the skillsets is, that they are the most direct leverage point for influencing your mindset and identity. Skillsets also provide tools for your personality to communicate and collaborate with the external realities (and why not the internal ones too).
