Failures and their implications are rarely limited to personal experiences and futures. More often than not, setbacks require a collaborative effort from the entire community.

Futures Workflow is a space for exploring failure, identity, and reinvention. It brings the network of experienced or expected failures to the table for finding constructive and future-facing ways to address them as a community.

Futures Workflow is about transformation.

More specifically, it is about futures enabling transformation: personal and collective. It does not try to identify individuals to take the blame or point fingers. We are exploring the collective mechanism of taking responsibility and changing the system that led or is feared to lead to failure.

Simultaneously, futures workflow opens up space for the collective to be transformed by individuals who are ready not only to speak up, but also to carry the fear and consequences of failure along the way.

Futures after Failure Workflow normalises failures and calls for constructive ways to carry the responsibility. It urges us to recognise, call out, and, most importantly, be brave enough to take responsibility and action for those trajectories that are identified as going towards failure.

In this workflow, I invite participants to take a critical yet constructive look at their community, reflect on the consequences of failures, and open up space for collective, transformative insight.

This futures workflow is perfect for communities, companies, or groups seeking to spark genuine conversations about resilience and the rediscovery of their futures, with and after failure.

From Problems to Action. The Spirit Behind Futures Workflow

I take action, and making things happen, seriously.

In fact, I believe that in many cases getting started is even more critical than meticulous planning. When it comes to futures, the real breakthroughs often emerge through trial, experimentation, and iteration, not from perfect blueprints.

When I was a young entrepreneur in the early 2000s, I became the director of a small production facility. I didn’t know much about the technical processes, so when employees came to me with problems, my only option was honesty:

“I’m not familiar with these processes the way you are. Do you have any ideas for the solution?”

They did. We collaborated, built on their ideas, and implemented solutions together. Over time, something powerful happened: they stopped just bringing me ideas. Instead, they brought me solutions. Eventually, they simply acted. Problems were solved before I even knew they existed.

That experience shaped me as a leader. As a futurist, it is the understanding that underlies all my Futures Work.

It taught me that change happens when people are empowered to act, experiment, and learn together.

The most valuable stages of futures work are those first steps. Taken not at full speed, but with sensitivity, creativity, and open eyes, grounded in collaboration.

This is the ideology behind Futures Workflow: a structured yet flexible process that combines exploration with action, encouraging teams and communities to take those first steps, refine through practice, and build futures that actually work.

So when you’re ready to move beyond conversation and take serious action toward the future you want to create, you’re welcome to work your futures with me.
