Futures Dialogue · Beyond Comeback · Futures after Failure

Failure is part of every future worth building. Talking about it rarely is.

90 minutes. An emotionally honest group conversation about failure, identity and reinvention.

"Not your typical keynote. A conversation starter for Brave Futures spaces."

Futures Dialogue by Personal Futurist

The theme

This dialogue is about transformation. Personal, professional and collective. More specifically, it's about how futures make transformation possible after something has gone wrong.

It normalises failure and looks for constructive ways to carry responsibility. It invites us to recognise trajectories heading toward failure, to name them, and to be brave enough to act on them.

It also opens space for the collective to be transformed by individuals who are ready to speak up, and to carry the fear of failing along the way.

Who this is for

This resonates if your group

↳ Hides mistakes rather than talks about them
↳ Still carries a setback in how people see themselves
↳ Leaves good ideas unspoken for fear of failing
↳ Is rebuilding after a loss, together or one by one
↳ Wants resilience that isn't just "bounce back"

In practice

↳ 90 minutes, facilitated by Essi
↳ Online, or live on location
↳ In English or Finnish
↳ For teams, leadership groups, communities and events
↳ No preparation needed

What a Futures Dialogue is

As Personal Futurist, I speak with people, not to them.

A Futures Dialogue is a group conversation that grows from the people in the room. It shifts and deepens with every perspective shared. Nobody argues a case. Nobody needs to find the one right way forward. Instead, we gather voices and build on them together.

It's about sharing, understanding and embracing each other's experiences. And about the collaboration that becomes possible when that happens. Every dialogue is built on the Beyond Futures Mindset and strengthens communication and collaboration for shared outcomes.

Outcome

Space opens for genuine communication about futures. Including the difficult ones.

Why I chose this theme

I chose "Futures after Failure" for personal and professional reasons. I'm a doctoral researcher in Futures Studies. I'm also an entrepreneur who has faced bankruptcy. I failed seriously, lost everything, and accepted the lifelong responsibilities that followed. What I never accepted was that those responsibilities would cost me my futures. That's why futures are deeply personal to me, and why this dialogue is transformational.

What your group leaves with

↳ Space for genuine communication about futures, including the difficult parts

↳ A more honest, shared relationship with failure

↳ Language for responsibility without shame

↳ A renewed sense of the futures that are still open

Who facilitates

Every Futures Dialogue is facilitated by me, personally. I bring a doctoral researcher's and MA's grounding in futures studies from the University of Turku, training as a solutions-focused brief therapist, and over fifteen years of running my own business, including losing it and rebuilding. In the room, my role isn't to have the answers. It's to hold a space where honest, difficult futures conversations can actually happen.

How this works

A Futures Dialogue is a 90-minute facilitated conversation for your group. Not a debate and not a lecture. Participants share perspectives on a futures theme and build on each other's voices. Everyone also gets a moment to look at their own personal futures.
